UK immigration target will not be met, IPPR warns

lollywood —

The government will not fulfil its vow to reduce net migration to the tens of thousands by 2015, the Institute for Public Policy Research think tank says.

It predicts net migration - the difference between the number of people entering and leaving the UK - will fall to 180,000 in 2012, from its 2010 peak of 252,000.

But reductions cannot be sustained at the current pace, it says.

The government insists its policies are working and the target will be met.

We've limited non-EU workers coming to the UK, overhauled the student visa system and will shortly announce reforms of the family migration and settlement routes.

demon dude is an idiot it mzke me laugh. look around you ppl from the indopak region are entrpreneurs, and many are in the medical field and engineering but apparently asians are not adding to the quality of life? paleeze its all propaganda. so only eu workers are adding to the quality of life? i think many from the eu are in low paid jobs i.e cleaning because lets face it the indigenous people don't want to do it. i mean im sick of hearing just asians have big families and are sitting on benefits. that may have rung true some years ago, but the truth is just as many native english on sitting on benefits snd have large families, anyone seen 15 and counting? ive yet to see a brit asian family with 15 kids i expected it, and i was shocked to see caucasians having so many kids, shows ow ignorant i am.. ask them to do cleaning jobs they would refuse too, so eu workers are great, the government loves them. so lets just phase out the asians and pretend its about a lack of skills and a lack of quality, when the truth is they don't want any more indians here. i mean the recent plans to ban people marrying in india or pakistan and the minimum wage the partner must produce in order to get his.her partner over is insane. over 20 grand a year. i dont live on 20 grand a year neither do many of the mums around here so send them back home too oops u cant because theyre english, scottish or brit passport holders too bad. why are the restrictions on asians only what of eu workers who get over here and marry back home just to get their partners over? it seems really unfair the same laws should apply for all immigrants.

lets face it the conservatives protect the rights of the very wealthy and people voted for them out of anger over brown and iraq, policies against muslims etc. theyre as bad as each other .

I think there are only a few big entrepreneurs and businessmen from the Asian community
paleeze its all propaganda.
It could be but I still think this country is very tolerant

I'm not sure, that does seems to be the opinion of quite a few people
I don't think they have much choice when it comes to EU immigrants
Asians do tend have large families here or back in their county of origin and yes some native English do as well I think people should not be allowed to have more then 3 or 4 kids and child benefit should only be paid for the first 2 and that's being generous. if you told someone in India or Pakistan that we over here get paid for having children they would take you to the nearest mental hospital

I saw that programme on channel 4 as well the first thing that came to my mind was did they not have tv?
ive yet to see a brit asian family with 15 kids i expected it, and i was shocked to see caucasians having so many kids, shows how ignorant i am..
British Asian families have around 4 to 8 kids, I think it's native Catholics that have the large families as well as asians
ask them to do cleaning jobs they would refuse too, so eu workers are great, the government loves them.
What if the EU workers start doing the same?
so lets just phase out the asians and pretend its about a lack of skills and a lack of quality, when the truth is they don't want any more indians here.
I think anyone would get fed up of foreign immigration no matter if it's EU, Asian, African or whatever I think the British people are very tolerant of other people and faiths and we should be grateful to them, they let us build a state within a state we have sharia courts in this country we have sharia banking islamic bank of Brittan IBB
lets say if the British people started going to Muslims countries and building churches pubs and night clubs all over the place I think Muslims would never allow it in a million years they would kick out the British people straight away and none of this I'm going to sue the Muslim government nonsense would work because the Muslim governments of those countries would never let that kind of thing happen

I'm very happy about this new rule it's going to reduce the number of forced marriages and
the youth of Pakistan is going concentre on getting an education before it was no I don't need to get an education I have a cousin brother cousin sister in the UK so I'll be getting married to her and settling in the UK

I hope they do extend the rule for every nationality

theres not only a few asian businessmen stereotype though it may be more than 90% of the curry trade meaning indian restaurants and takeaways are owned by asian, and its a booming industry.

as for asians having 4-8 kids, thats definitely not the norm anymore. in my mothers generation 7 kids was the norm 8 was pushing it. in my sisters it was a lot less. in mine well all the people i know have between 2-4 kids. so this figure of 8 i dont now where you got it from. asians these days are copying the herd they want fewer kids for whatever reasons they may have thats their choice. but frankly its no ones right not even urs to decide how many kids i or any other woman chooses to have. the big problem with society in my eyes is its all about pushing thr material life, living for yourself, kids will just hold one back. what a mugs life to live. if a woman wants a large family she and her partner can support them, its not illegal we're not in china it's her business how many she has not yours or anyone elses. as for benefits i dont get income support, not all parents with lots of kids are living off benefits. as for child benefit all kids get that regardless of how wealthy or ot their parents are. for the record ii dont look down on people who require benefits regardless of how little or big their family is long as they realise its meant to be a short term scheme. we shouldnt go around with this stereotype h shes got x amount of kids i bet shes eating up all my taxes. how do u know she didnt work all her life and took a step back to raise her babies? how do you know she doesnt work, or husband isnt supporting her. she may have had a great job but circumstances forced her out of work, so shes entitled to it. point made.

A lot of them still do have large families and some have more then 1 wife

Sensible people understand that it’s difficult to bring up lots of kids and to cater for their growing needs for the latest things, they want the same as their friends have
but frankly its no ones right not even urs to decide how many kids i or any other woman chooses to have.
I think it is because a lot parents can't look after their kids the kids end up in care
and the state has to pay for it all, if any parent has more then 2 kids they should not get child benefit, what I feel is that this country just throws money at everything and hopes that money will sort everything out may be I’m wrong
What you've said is very true but that's the kind of society we live in and we saw the negative effects it can lead to on the streets of England in the riots we had

A lot of people hold the opinion that women only get pregnant so that they can get a council flat and state benefits we do hear many stories in the news papers which do back that up

That doesnt make them right.

and why are you so into gossip? That's what all your posts can generally be summed up into. Don't you have a brain of your own, to say what you think?

Hajjar — Mon, 6 Feb 2012 - 22:38

a lot of the replies you made to my post are all based on tabloid journalism not real facts.

is there a correlation between large families and he care system. ive heard the main problem arises when there are more than one child born very close along woth other social pressures and the parents cant cope. ive never heard that large families are the crux of the problem.

as for indian takeaways and restaurants not counting as big business i wonder what would happen if the curry trade was completely removed from the uk. i mean if youre a millionaire from the curry trade who so what if its small theyre buying branches and expanding and the money is coming in. i know of several people in this trade.

as for child benefit take issue with the governement i have no problem if they remove it. but the benefit is for the child not the parents thats why regardless of parents wealth they receive it. i too think the very wealthy dont need this benefit, but at the same time i do think most parents are honest and rich or poor they will use it on their child not themselves.

what you said about women having kids for council flats yes it occurs. but whT you failed to highlight is that its a minority its not a huge trend. also its very young women i.e teens who do it, usually to get out of a deprived social situation. im not justifying it but ive never been as deprived as some of these girls so who am i to judge. if you've never walked a mile in their shoes you shouldn't be rattling on like the trashy papers. i mean they dont care about u or these young women, theyre out to pocket some cash with a rubbish story, so why by into the sensationalist headlines?

i dont have a council flat. but so what if i did it makes more sense than private renting. the rent is lower, any maintenance is done by they council, there is a greater sense of security and stability. in private rented accom no monitoring, the landlord can kick you out especially in england without the tenant having many rights. they can give you very poor standards of living too. but the upside is you get to choose the area you wish to live in, council homes are often in not to attractive areas of town. so these so called women pregnant for flats arent exactly living it up in their mansions the reality on big towns are tiny bedsits.
i think too many ppl assume council houses are free, theyre not you still pay rent and all your bills

i think its funny how so many asians i know look down on council homes, yet they really cant afford their mortages? but they would rather have less for their kids and save face in the community than let anyone know theyre livng in a council home blimin pride needs to go.

lollywood got kids?
