IFTAR: EMERGENCY FUNDRAISER FOR KASHMIR EARTHQUAKE

Following the recent earthquake in Kashmir a special iftar

gathering has been organised to help raise funds for those

who are suffering in this region. The United Nations estimated

some 4 million people were affected, including 2 million

who lost homes, and warned that measles, cholera and other

diseases could break out. The earthquake, which measured 7.6

on the Richter Scale, has caused widespread devastation in

Kashmir and surrounding areas in Pakistan, India and Afghanistan.

'The baby survived the quake but may not survive the cold'

This is a golden chance for all of them to gain the ridwan

(pleasure) of Allah, as the Prophet ﷺ is reported to

have said, “Whoever assists a needy Muslim by removing his

hardship then Allah would assist him and remove all his

hardship on day of Judgment.” (Reported by Muslim)

It was reported that when there was an earthquake,

`Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azeez (rh) would write to his governors

telling them to give in charity.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever meets the needs of his

brother, Allah will meet his needs.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

All brothers and sisters are encouraged to attend this

event and inform others, especially those who work or study

in London. A brief update on the latest situation will be

given by the charities working in the region and how one can

more involved i.e. the need for volunteers. Donations will

be collected on the day and iftar will be provided insha'Allah.

DIRECTIONS: Come out of Aldgate East Underground (District Line) on to

Whitechapel Road. Turn Left, then left again on to Commercial Street.

Toynbee Hall is located about 200 meters up the road on the right.
