Love

Angel —

Love..how can one define it? What kinds of love are there, ie worldy love, true love etc?

I personally believe that one has different kinds of love for their parents/siblings,partners..but what about the love for Allah (swt) and the Holy Prophet (saw), isn't this love pure and true love as there are no conditions or limit from the love we receive from Allah (swt) and the Holy Prophet (saw).

I have heard Allah (swt) has divided love into 100 parts of which 1/100 is for the people of this world for each other and 99/100 is Allah’s (swt) love for his people! Doesn’t that alone show how high and true this kind of love is and that this worldly love is something small and will cease to exist once we die???

I disagree.

I dont think "propper" love (of any kind, be it motherly love or whatever) can be said to be higher or truer than another love. I recon they're about the same. People choose to act on one more than another for whatever reason.

Disagree again. Infact i think the reverse is true. Love is by no means small and can by no means cease to exist.

Well if they don't act on it more than another then that shows the level of love is different, how much ever you love the person that's how much you will put an effort into pleasing them and doing what they like and avoid doing what they dislike..so i do think the love can have different levels ie. a lot or less..

Isnt that what i said? Loves love, theres no levels, theres no highs or lows... so i dont knw where the hell you got that from.

silly garfield

Love CAN be placed into levels

with the higest being love for God and his prophet

angel is right

Oh... i see whats going on here.

So lets say your love for your parents is greater than your love for your brother or sister or to that of your love to your husband or wife.

Its like a Hierarchy system. Ones more important than another. You've been watching way too much Sesame Street.

Motherly love and your love for God almighty can't be at different levels becoz they're not even the same kind of love. Inorder for one thing to be higher than another it has to be in the same category... which in this case of your love for the prophet and God is NOT in the same category.

MuslimSisLilSis — Sat, 25 Jun 2005 - 22:47

i love my sisters more then i love my brother

i love my sister as much as i love my mother

i love my mum more then i love my dad

i love my dad more then i love my brother

there are hierachy's of love

with Love of God and his Prophet should be the hightest

love dont HAVE to be in the same category for person to put it in order

no thats not what you said cuz you just said to me "i dont knw where the hell you got that from" , well thats my view..this world is what we are goin to be judged on and how much love we have for Allah (swt) to obey him and how much love we have for the Holy Prophet ﷺ to follow his blessed sunnah...so yeh the love for Allah (swt) and the Holy Prophet ﷺ should be the highest and then rest of the relationship should come after this...

aww that sounds a bit harsh! we shoudnt have to have such a 'hierarchy of love' within our own family... i mean fine i know some siblings fight more than others, and they may think 'i dont like her as much as sibling X' but to b able to actually write it down like that^ is... a little worrying. (and esp. seeing as how ur daddy's gal, thts a bit harsh wudn u say?)

MuslimSisLilSis — Sun, 26 Jun 2005 - 12:30

my love is in hierrachy

i've always told daddy I love him the best-just to make him happy

Love cannot break. That which breaks was a bond of something else.

If one is willing to seperate from the beloved then one has never truely loved. There never was love.

One cannot love for an instant, or a week, or a year.

One can only love for eternity.

Love is Eternal.

VERY tru

btw omro if u discuss love too much-people will start to think ur a mouse

so calm it down

Talking of higher things in life does make thee a mouse.

Tis pushing a pram for thy wife that lists thee among the mice.

do me a favour omro and define a "mouse" for me in a new thread

cos sumtimes I agree with u-other times i dont

pushing a pushchair DONT make a man a mouse

it makes him a MAN

do u have any idea how heavy some push chairs are-how difficult it is to fold them up-put them on buses-on lifts etc etc

i struggled with my baby sisters one-and she was a tiny baby

Don't you think it would be easier without the pushchair then?

Omrow never said carry the pram, but the baby.

thats the silliest thing I've ever heard

do u have kids-u ever pushed one?

pushchairs are important-they protect the baby from all types of wheather

a baby can sleep comfortably in it-

but carrying a baby every where is even more difficult-so that's not a option

and pushchairs are very difficult to handle in certain places-places with stairs etc

places like that u need a MAN-to help u out

that dont make man a mouse

You — Sun, 26 Jun 2005 - 18:39

No I don't push kids 😂

If you can't take a kid there, don't.

Now imagine a pushchair with alloy wheels etc, that may change the situation.

if that smily was some what decent I'd laugh at my mistake too

and btw u need to have kids/deal with kids to talk

sumtimes u NEED to take ur kids to places where the place aint push chair friendly

u dont have a choice sumtimes

Love has its limitations and when it exceeds these limitations it is described as extreme love/passionate devotions (Ishq).

This extreme love is manifested in the one who loves absolutely everything to do with his beloved.

He loves the street in which his beloved resides; he loves the dogs that roam in his beloved street. He is compelled to love the friends of his beloved, the beloveds of his beloved….and everything/anyone who has any sort of connection with his beloved.

This extreme love was manifested in Hadrat Awais Karni (ra) who broke all his teeth just because he had heard that one tooth of His leader had broke in the battle of Uhud.

Extreme love was manifested in the ones who collected the hair, sweat and fingernails of their Leader (saw).

We all claim to love someone or another, some may even go as far as claiming that their love is extreme…but has anyone ever collected/saved the hair/sweat of the one they claim that they’re extremely in love with?

Some people claim that Islam has no place for extreme love. However when one possesses limited love for their beloved they are ready to give up their wealth and happiness, on the other hand when one possesses extreme love for their Lord they are ready to give up their lives.

This sacrifice is not possible for those whose love is within limits.

Sounds alot like an obsession.

I suppose it can only be a ngative if it becomes harmful.

But who said the course of love ever ran smooth.

Besides collecting hair and sweat is not the only way such things can manifest.

The example given was that of the Sahaba's...their love for the Holy Prophet ﷺ could not be described as an obsession.

Of course, collecting hair etc is not the only way extreme love is manifested...one of the main ways it is manifested is by those who give up their lives.

There is no love without yearning.

Longing for something is present in one respect and absent in another.

Sort of like the beloved who is present in the imagination, but absent from the eye.

Allah (swt) says in a beautiful Hadith Qudsi “I feel the yearning of the faithful, of the true servants for Me, and I too long for them”.

It’s so easy to claim love for someone, however there are many rights of love that one may fulfil before their claim is considered truthful.

There's lots....(around ten signs I think)

But to name a few.

Obedience is one of the signs of love for someone, cos if you really love someone you do as they say.

Mawlana Rumi said that the lover is obedient to the one he loves.

True love for someone is also rooted in the knowledge of them. If one does not fully know someone they can not claim to love them. According to Mawlana Rumi ignorance does not lead to true love; this also rejects the notion of “love at first sight”.

…and now I’m blank
